I'm sure someone here said Comic Relief was coming from TC1.

The recording of "Goodbye Television Centre" for BBC Four is on Monday 18th March - not sure which studio this will be done in, logic dictates TC1 but for a BBC4 interview show might be a bit pricey.

[...]

Quite an impressive run from Stage Door to TC1 on Let's Dance last night...

*impressed whistle*

Comic Relief will be from TC1, as will Goodbye Television Centre. The main block studios are actually reasonably busy over the next month or so - looking at the schedules,TC3 has a sitcom called Up the Women and an NRK/SVT co-produced talk show, Skavlan. There are various pilots, including a Vic and Bob show, TC8's got 8 Out of 10 Cats; and the last programme looks like it'll be Channel 4's Five Minutes to a Fortune, which has a three week run.

(Also, you might possibly see something on air from stage 6 on the 2nd of May.)

It was a great Steadicam shot wasn't it - very fast and not a bump? Assume it was radio with a couple of receive aerials along the route?

Skavlan's a great show. They make a point of saying that they are at BBC TV Centre when they are.

Does Charlie Brooker's Weekly Wipe come from TVC?

According to the TV Studio History website they are using TC10 for the desk segments. Which is quite fitting given what TC10 was originally...

TC10 has for a long time been neutered. It has no working gallery. The studio space might be used with standalone ENG cameras and lighting though.

Yes, the website implies that they're just using it as a four-waller type space.

Yep - that's precisely how it's used for Weekly Wipe. Canon C300s I believe.

(Looks to me as if they are rigged in the TC11 gallery and using the TC10 studio floor?)

I popped into TC10 (or N1 as it was!) while I was at TVC the other week and I can confirm that it was rather empty but had a wooden desk like the one in the link above, complete with a manky cup of tea/coffee sat on top!

Speaking of TC10, what Stage in TVC is that located?

Very impressive indeed. How's it done? I'm guessing the cameraman has to be facing forward with the camera pointing behind him? With a viewfinder round the front?

Running backwards quickly and confidently. The Steadicam brace puts the camera in front of you, pointing forwards. There may well be someone with you backwatching.

Effectively a Steadicam transfers most of the camera weight directly through your back.

And just because we're talking about Steadicam - here's a particularly good example of Steadicam - and how they did it. (Which also shows how the harness and mounting work)

Spur - aka Stage IV. (Built for News in the late 60s - and also houses TC8)

Wow so he was just simply running backwards. Makes it even more impressive, that's quite some speed and there are a few fairly narrow doorways along the way! Smile I knew a Stedicam rig is usually pointing forwards, I just wondered if there was an alternative way of doing it for special requirements.

That Eurovision shot is pretty awesome. What's the guy following him around doing?
