I visited TVC last week and there was a WWTBAM rehearsal going on - I can't remember exactly which studio it was in now - think it might have been one of TC4/5/6. Piers Morgan's Life Stories was also being recorded in one of them too. I didn't pay too much attention as to which studios they were in as I spent most of the time in TC7 and the News Centre. Wish I'd looked more closely now!!

I think it would have been in TC6. TC4 is new quiz Beat the Pack and TC5 is closed. It was in TC4 for that celebrity special they had before Christmas.

Come to think of it - I think it was just after I'd left TC7 that I noticed the rehearsal in progress - so TC6 would indeed make sense.

What is the set within TC7 that is now used for rehearsal? Is it still the old Newsnight set?

The set used for the Six is left permanently standing now - so desk on the left rostrum and an empty rostrum on the right. There's only the Six, 8pm summary and Ten Trail that come from TC7 now. The WWTBAM rehearsal I briefly noticed was taking place in TC6.

Oh right I didn't realise it was still used for news programmes, I thought it was only used for rehearsal since Newsnight moved.

Given that BBC Studios are relocating to Elstree Studios during TVC's redevelopment, it seems a bit ironic that with the closure happening so soon, there are programmes being filmed at TVC this month which are normally based at Elstree Studios, such as Let's Dance for Comic Relief and Who Wants to be a Millionaire.

Life Stories, which is normally filmed at the London Studios, is also being recorded at TVC this month.

WWTBAM is filming at TVC? I thought they had a standing set at Elstree?

I've seen WWTBAM twice at Elstree, in 2 different stages (one of which was the George Lucas stage), so it's not a standing set when it's at Elstree.

It was a standing set for a long period.

Looking forward to this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/aboutthebbc/posts/Google-View- TVC

The Google Street View cameras have been inside Television Centre to photograph it before it gets redeveloped, to go online this summer. An opportunity to virtually get lost in those famous circular corridors!

Meanwhile, the redevelopment website http://www.television-centre.com/ has now gone live.

Google Street View thing sounds great, notice some tool has already said it's a waste of money underneath - and after being told it's cost the BBC a total of £0 they still think it's a waste of time. They're all out there, aren't there?

Some gems from the TV Centre revelopment website history page:

"Sep 1978 - First Digital channel (BBC Choice later became BBC3)
Nov 1999 - BBC News 24 Channel launched
Jan 2004 - First series of Strictly Come Dancing"

The first one looks like a simple typo but who knows where they got the dates for the last two...

Shame that google captured an empty building rather than a bustling hub of news and entertainment along with sport etc...

Good question. And, where will Strictly take place this year?

Not sure about Comic Relief - it might come from TC1 but is likely to be almost the last booking there if it does.

Strictly will be coming from Elstree - not the original BBC site but the studios across the road (where Big Brother is located). The BBC have renovated two stages to use on a regular basis as studios and they are approximately a similar size to the medium sized studios at TVC. However, as Strictly is so big, it won't fit into them. Therefore, Strictly will use half of the George Lucas Stage complex which is also located there. The same half that was used by Channel 4 for the Big Bro interview set and Big Bro's Little Bro in fact!

If they wanted, they could increase the size of the Strictly set to make the most of the larger space. However, I doubt they will do this as it will be back in TC1 after a couple of years and may look a bit odd!

I'm sure someone here said Comic Relief was coming from TC1.

The recording of "Goodbye Television Centre" for BBC Four is on Monday 18th March - not sure which studio this will be done in, logic dictates TC1 but for a BBC4 interview show might be a bit pricey. TC3 would be a good location given it was the first studio to open. As Comic Relief is the previous Friday and news is due to move out the previous weekend, I imagine it could be one of the last programmes made there before redevelopment? It is due to be transmitted on Sunday 31st March which I think is to tie in with the end of the majority of BBC activity on the site...

Quite an impressive run from Stage Door to TC1 on Let's Dance last night...

Comic Relief is definitely coming from TVC and from what I've heard they'll be making a big deal out of that.

Graham Norton's extra long chat show will also be coming from TVC next week.
