Teletext is rolling an £8m campaign to support the launch of its new identity and prove it is not an "out of date" brand in a digital world.

The new brand positioning and identity break on March 9, promoting Teletext's editorial and holiday products across digital TV, online and mobile platforms. Teletext is also launching services including Teletext Extra and Teletext Games.

Its new campaign features the strapline "Teletext. No blah blah", which marketing director Ash Makkar says marks a strategy highlighting the simplicity of the brand in a world "overwhelmed by more".

Teletext Extra will be available on Freeview and include an electronic programme guide ( EPG) with a 14-day TV listings guide. The enhanced service is high-definition ready and offers instant page uploading.

Teletext Games on TV, available on Freeview, is the platform's first fixed-odds gaming channel available via the brand's service on Channel 4. Teletext already offers gaming online and on mobile phones.

That caps looks pretty good actually - no so sure on the "no blah blah" slogan.

Teletext Extra kind of makes sense - have the core content on the ITV/C4 pages and then use the Extra service for additional things.

Hopefully they'll standardise the pages across ITV and C4 a bit more - and similarly in line with the analogue service.

I think Teletext Extra is a bit of a misleading name. Isn't it just an extended EPG for Freeview boxes??

That's part of it, but they can also put other non-core stuff on there as well to free up more space (or page numbers at least) on the main service.

It won't happen because I think they're one of the most popular services - but with the Football pages for example, it kind of make sense to have the main service on ITV/C4 and then link to "Teletext Extra" for the individual club pages.

The logo looks OK on the Extra service IMO - but awful on the "teletext on ITV" screencap.

However, the main point is as some expected Extra won't be available to all users - over air updates will be sent out to Thompson boxes and pre-installed on new Alba/Bush boxes later in the year - which is a bit of a shame.

On the plus side though they're resurrecting teletext.co.uk and putting news, sport and entertainment content back online.

Well, the new look has launched and it looks as bad as we feared - especially on the C4 stations where the channel logos are so tiny it's ridiculous.

Teletext Cars and Games are yet to change. Don't think I'll be able to get it myself but has anyone got Teletext Extra?

Awful-who OK'd that colour?

Anyone else noticed that the ITV2/3/4 have a black text logo as opposed to their normal white text ones?

It hasn't launched on DSat. If anything the channel logos look bigger, maybe they have taken some notice of your comments!

Wasn't it supposed to re-launch on March 9th. You might want to check EPG 662 to compare with your picture.

Yes "Teletext Holidays" ( EPG 662) shows the new logo and has done for a week or so. Seems odd to have two different identities on the DSat platform though.
