I remember they tried a similar fastext game like Bamboozle a few years ago. It was sport orientated if I remember.
I reckon Bamboozle will be something that will die when digital TV takes over completely (2012).

I suppose the point I'm making is that, it won't be the same and as such, there will be 'no need' for it.
I've played the Bamboozle game on Channel 4 digital text and its not the same. Oh god, maybe I just need to get a life!

The sports quiz was called "Ten To One" and was on page 151, Bamboozle on 152. The coloured blocks were replaced with coloured balls (rugby, foot, cricket, tennis). Fun and Games also included an interesting facts section and a quick quiz.
Teletext is rubbish now, with Club 440/140/Ace now stripped down to 5 pages and the Kids section completely gone.
IIRC Bamboozle originally had 15 questions - so at least we know where WWTBAM got its idea - complete with cutoff points (if you get question 5 wrong you go back to question 4).

No - I'm sure Bamboozle started off with 20 questions! There used to 9 pages of Fun and Games! And it was originally on ITV when it first started off on pages 350-359 I think! There used to be a really difficult IQ from Mensa question on p152 on ITV or later on p452 on Channel 4. it was a real poser! I remember it well - I used to ask my mathematics teacher at school to solve some of the questions which were all mainly mathematically based and even he couldn't do some of them! They were the days. Chess never used to be part of Fun and Games. As someone originally said, that was put in more recently after the more interesting games had all bu disappeared.
Fun and Games is now cack!

Yeah, when Teletext took over the Teletext Franchise from ORACLE. They tried to be different and swapped content from what was familar on ORACLE so entertainment type stuff from CH4 to ITV and the news type stuff from ITV to CH4. What they didn't realise was that you wouldnt be able to access any news stories over night as CH4 would close down for the night which is one of the reasons for the swap over just months after the launch of the service.
Oh the poster mentioning about Knightmare quiz. I think that was on ORACLE rather than Teletext but don't quote me on it. (many don't anyway!)

Maybe we are remembering different things. I never used Oracle so I'm sure the Knightmare thing was on Teletext. It wasn't a quiz, it was more of a basic adventure game.
Okay

I remember Knightmare (despite it being less vivid in the memory than it was; I have not seen a repeat in ages) and can easily see how you'd only need text to pull off an interactive version.
But -- specifically, how did such a game work within the basic system of Teletext? Did you have 4 options, one assigned to each colour?
Sounds like it could be similar to some BBC-M games of old that I used to have, on those 8 " floppy disks!
You'd have a simple few sentences describing: where you were, what was to your North, East, etc, although you would type whole commands in -- somewhat trickier than a mere button press, as you wouldn't always figure out the precise command to type in order to do something!
