Apologies if it's old news but I felt like letting my anger out here. I just read up on the details of the new series of Father Ted that is being remade in the States... Of course if you never watched or liked the show, this news will not appeal to you...

http://www.feck.net/splange/ftnews.html

Craggy Island has been replaced with a new york apartment (Friends, anyone?) with new characters, including Mrs Doyle's husband, Ted's ex-wife, and their 5-year-old son. All the original characters are now going to be younger, as the makers want the show to be aimed at BBC Three-like audiences (twenty somethings). Bishop Brennan still exists in the show, but Ted's ex-wife and son have to be hidden from him Rolling Eyes Ha bloody ha... The roles of Ted and Jack have been cast, but Dougal's part is still to be found. You won't like what i'm about to tell you...

Many of you will remember Dougal as the "five year old trapped in a man's body" because of his stupidly, clumsiness, and the fact that he is loveable. The American ******* have replaced these characteristics to make Dougal a "streetwise rapping priest". Rastaferians and african-americans have been auditioning for this awful part. For feck's sake! What are they playing at???

Dermot Morgan will be spinning in his grave... Rolling Eyes

http://www.fathertedonline.ukf.net/americanversion.htm says there's been no news since but apparently they're still working on it...

I hope it's a spoof anyway...

American's getting it wrong again, look at Men Behaving Badly, they cast two good looking blokes "allegedly" in a big flat or house Rolling Eyes

Did anyone see that Spaghetti Trees Harvest item on Panorama recently? Richard Dimbleby narrated it, really interesting...

Message to the person who originally came up with this (if it is a real plan):

Nothing is your area, you little ****, unless it is some sort of play area, with sandcastles and buckets and spades.

You do realise that discussing this is probably going to give a brilliant idea to those feckin' clever programme makers across the pond to remake Fr Ted like this spoof.

The spaghetti trees item was wonderful. Imagine all the work those Swiss farmers have to do! I'm never buying manufactured spaghetti again. Wink
