does anyone remember the bbc news 90s strike? - i have a very faint memory of it - i remember seeing a programme caption and announcer explaining the strike- and i think maybe some producer? did midlands today - though im not sure???

anyone remember it? - anyone seen captures on the net?

I have a vague memory of a Midlands Today from around that period, (or maybe a different occasion) being presented by the news editor(I think?). Certainly, it wasn't a guy you would see on screen normally, & again I'm not sure whether the same guy would have done BBC Radio WM news as well.

I think the programme was very short as well.

the one i was thinking of was in the B B   C era - so early to mid nineties, any one remember it?

I have vague memories of the national news being replaced by Dad's Army (a bit like the power failure) and the Breakfast News being replaced by.. I can't remember, either nature films or old movies.. but I know they had an old weekend style 15 min Breakfast News with one presenter.

Just as an update to the CBC Strike:

-BBC World was broadcasted for about an houre last night on CBC Newsworld. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it from somewhere 9-10pm, seemed unusual to me, because I was not aware of the strike.

Looking at the CBC Newsworld schedule, it looks like BBC World News is broadcasted every 2.5 hours. It's quite neat actually.

I was also delighted to see BBC World studio on my television screens yesterday afternoon. A taste of UK TV... mmm... *grabs giant spoon* http://web.ukonline.co.uk/tv.home/forum/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Maybe CBC can learn something from the BBC... cue in the anti-BBC folks. http://web.ukonline.co.uk/tv.home/forum/emoticons/cheesy.gif !
