Ahhh, i love talking about TCC - it takes me back to a simpler time....here is what happened:

First there was TCC which broadcast 6am - 5pm. From 5pm onwards was The Family Chennel.
Then there was TCC which broadcast 6am - 5pm. From 5pm onwards was Challenge TV.
Then, around 1996 Trouble was a launched as a "spin off" from TCC. Trouble broadcast 12noon to 8pm on the same channel as Bravo. Trouble took the more "teen" programmes and TCC continued with programmes for the under 10s.
Trouble was such a success it started to buy new "teen" programmes and broadcast from 7am to 8pm.
TCC closed down a few years later with just its "Pre School" programmes surviving in a programme block on Living TV.

Some people say TCC changed its name to Trouble.
NO! NO! NO!

The Trouble we have today (which shows many US primetime shows and has an audience of 16-30 year olds) IS NOTHING like the TCC we had in the early 90s.

Dont get me wrong, i really like Trouble but its nothing like TCC used to be.

TCC and Trouble are two different channels.

There was only one reason I ever watched TCC . . .

That reminds me. I entered a competition at Debenhams (of all places) once and won a 'The Childrens Channel' mug - still have it somewhere.....

Yes, even your alternate identity seems to think that in the "DJ Kat/Sky 1 undun" thread.

Can you somehow explain this situation? How is it that supposedly the same person can make 2 vastly differing styles of post- one with good spelling and grammar- the other awful?

Split personality? Or none as the case might be.

I'm sure I remember Lucie Cave and CBBC's Ortis were presenters on TCC, but then moved to Trouble after the flextech changes?

We never had Multichannel before Trouble started, in fact we got it about 3 or 4 months after Trouble started but I remember those 2 were always on Trouble, I remember they were on there as late as 2000 or 2001. Though after this TCC never had any IVC, it always had animations, which was obviously aimed at the very young.

TCC was pulled in April 1998 so it could mean that CNBC from 6am to 12pm could move from Bravo to Challenge TV and that TV Travel Shop would be added on Challenge TV from 12pm to 5pm, but within a few months due to the popularity it changed to 6am. But for us watching on Cable and Wireless they didn't get rid of TCC, from what I know I believe they took the TCC Nordic feed, which was basically TCC but from a few years ago, it even had a 'Tiny TCC' strand in the same way as we had a 'Tiny Living' strand, it even showed most of the programmes, even that awful with Timmy Mallett. But CWC saw sense after 6 months and pulled it as the technical side of TCCN wasn't brilliant, but as they took TCC off they replaced it with Fox Kids, as late as 1998!

Though the UK version of TCC I liked, it had some good programmes. I also remember when they would say that they'd be back tomorrow with Batman and Art Attack with Challenge TV Next, they even had this on their last ever closedown!

I have it on tape somewhere, so I might upload it.

We got C&W cable at the end of September 1998, and one of the channels we had for a while was TCC- but only in the morning, and they were all preschool programmes (including one with Sophie Aldred and a giant die). I guess this was the nordic feed? Funny that they were transmitting in English then...

I presumed it was Nordic, as I remember looking in one of the Satellite magazines that TCCN would transmit from 5am to 5pm UK Time, though it started at 6am on CWC you could tell that the channel was already through a programme whilst CWC started its feed, it did close down at 5pm as it had a closedown song that was played everyday, the magazine also said the service was English so I presumed it was Nordic.

As Flextech proudly closed down the main UK version, and it comparison to TCC UK and TCCN they were very different it didn't feel like the same TCC. So I am guessing it was Nordic and I don't believe anyother cable operater carried this TCC. CWC dropped in favour of a channel shake up in 1998, they were originally going to have a 24 hour Challenge TV replacing it, but it didn't happen and we had Shop! from 6am to 12pm on Challenge TV and nothing between 12pm and 5pm except for the Channel Guide.

Anyway back to the main topic.....
