Taskmaster Series 10 Cast Announced

The detective-work was correct

I was wondering what night of the week it would be on, what night it suits... I don't know why but it seems a Thursday show, though of course Friday and Tuesday are out

I thought they might give it the post Bake Off slot to give it the best possible launch. I think it's generally been Tuesday or Wednesday on Dave, but just thank god given some scheduling decisions of late at the BBC they haven't put it at 7pm on a Saturday.
Turns out nobody had 2020 vision.

Bake Off isn't that great a lead. If Channel 4 didn't have Five Guys a Week on Fridays at 10pm, it would be an option for Taskmaster to air after Gogglebox.

But then 10pm is arguably too late

It's the highest rated show on television each week until Strictly returns. There literally isn't a better lead in, although I would suggest other shows need it more - but launching Taskmaster on the Tuesday after it then continuing the series on Wednesdays would make quite a bit of sense.

I would suggest that Taskmaster and Gogglebox are a completely different audience.

What I mean is that as a lead in, the audiences for Bake Off generally don't stick around for the programme straight after it but that's also true for many shows like Love Island and Gogglebox.

I think it's better for Taskmaster to be self sufficient for Channel 4 than rely on their big hitters to boost it.

The Last Leg is returning last October and has historically had that slot

Yes, if it went on Fridays it would have to be at 9pm, and that means sacrificing Gogglebox which isn't going to happen.

The Last Leg will presumably have to have Adam Hills contributing from Melbourne if it does return next month. If they did return to the studio without Adam it may be better to have guest hosts for the series.

In terms of Taskmaster I think most of the tasks have been filmed pre-lockdown, though other than the team tasks the majority are naturally socially distanced anyway - and indeed with team tasks just having the additional rule of you must complete it whilst 2m apart wouldn't be that unusual anyway. I'm assuming though the studio parts have been filmed without an audience.

It isn't that great a lead in when you consider the majority of viewers won't have watched live.
Last year Bake off was consolidating to 9m most weeks but just about 3.4m were actual "live" viewers who watched from 8pm.
Included in the overnight viewing figures will be all those who watched on timeshift before 1am.
9.15 is off junction with the rest of the channels too.

Yeah, I think the studio bits were filmed without an audience not long after the contestants were confirmed.

That said there may be audience reaction as the full series has been shown to a few different select audiences from the Taskmaster mailing list in a cinema, presumably to use any laughs etc but this hasn't been confirmed for sure (that I've seen anyway)

The audience ticket company that deals with the show sent an email saying that they were showing some of the episodes to an audience and wanted to record their reactions for the show at the Curzon Cinema in Soho. Eps 3-6 on 1st September and 7-10 on 2nd September.

"We need to let you know that we'll also be recording your reaction to the series (just audio so don't worry, no need to put your glad rags on) so if you don't want to be recorded this probably isn't for you."
Telly's finest.
