I guess the show is less likely to get repeated to death on C4 like it does on Dave?

I've seen tweets to Alex referring to people's kids enjoying the daytime repeats which have obviously been heavily edited, I guess More 4 might still give an outlet for a sanitised version.
Write that down in your copybook now.

You'll end up with a few thousand compilation clips on social media though.

They don't learn, even after 30 years, do they? Going up against Corrie is suicide, that's what killed Doctor Who first time around.

There are too many episodes of Corrie now for BBC1 to just write off these slots, and many shows have done well against it - Would I Lie To You and Room 101 both ran several series against it, for a start, and this autumn Masterchef did well enough against the Wednesday 8.30 one.

None of them were new shows that launched against Corrie though were they?

Room 101 may have been a revival, but the "new" one certainly did, and you can also suggest the original Masterchef did in 1990.

There are too many soaps pre-watershed to avoid them all. They don't even rate as high as Bake Off and BBC1 just successfully lauched The Capture against that.

All very true - I don't think Corrie primary was the reason why The Button didn't find it's feat - so perhaps I phrased my initial post a little clumsily - however the scheduling of it being relatively late on a Friday night for being a more family friendly light entertainment show seems odd, when it seemed perfect for an early Saturday evening slot. Ah well, guess we will never know now!

Back to Taskmaster and Broadcast indicating that C4 discussions are early days, and that it may yet stay with UKTV, with ITV also potentially interested (!). Bothers Bar suggested the Beeb were also in the race, so who knows!

Well, it's true enough, and it probably also didn't help it being launched on the first hot day of last year, I remember it was boiling while episode one was on.

It's swings and roundabouts, though, because people always say they want to see new things in the schedules and excitement throughout the week, then when they try something in a different slot it doesn't always work. It's a bit like how C4 said they wanted to show more entertainment throughout the week rather than just on Fridays, so they put Host The Week on in midweek and it died on its arse. That said, it was crap as well.

I can barely see it working on Channel 4, let alone any BBC channel. It really does have that quirky style that I can only ever see on Dave. I guess that's a testament to UKTV's ability to build on the brand.

Who's to say the format wouldn't get a few tweaks. New titles and music etc. And on the BBC without adverts, that could increase the time on each task.
