A great character actor. I was always particularly struck by Hilda as a character in Corrie. Hilda was often the light and comic relief in an episode, but at times she could also bring you to tears.
Saw the ITV News earlier. The obligatory 'let's get some rubbish clips off YouTube' happened once again. I think with each passing death they're attempting to see just how low the low quality they can get on air.
For breaking news or some random person I can understand but a high profile actress on the same channel? Is it really that difficult to get a couple of broadcast quality clips of their most well remembered scenes?

That's surely more indicative of how slow the archive department is at responding to requests rather than sloppy video journalism?
It seems a shame that in none of the obituaries on either BBC or ITV mentioned her last episode on Christmas Day 1987 which gained 26 million viewers and is one of the most watched television programmes of all time.
ITV didn't even show clips of 'Woman Stanley... Woman' or Hilda sobbing clutching Stan's glasses. A definite poor effort from them.
On Breakfast this morning, the clips they had were unremarkable ones rather than the two mentioned above. I think taken off You Tube.
I often wonder who approaches who when it comes to people either coming in or phoning in to give an obituary. This morning it was someone who from the sound of it appeared alongside Jean in one episode of Last of the Summer Wine.

Give Granada Reports, their due they did show this and talk about it getting 26 million viewers.

Which bulletins did you see? I watched the both lunchtime summary and 5:40pm bulletin yesterday and both scenes you mentioned were featured in Martha Fairlie's report.
