In the case of the latter 2 the only asset transferred was their stock exchange visibility; they were reverse acquisitions.

Yes as a shoe company and a casino

I'd imagine that TVS remained the trading name for the facilities and domestic production side of the business for some time after the acquisition, hence the credits.

Yep, until their facilities got another name. Thames, Central and LWT all span off their studios under different names leading up to the franchise round, TVS didn't so presumably when something like Catchphrase continued to use Maidstone it had to be credited as something

The Maidstone Studios were actually legally owned by 'TVS Television' right up until Flextech sold them in 2002.

A company name that should never have made it on air: Television South Television. Brilliant.

Names like that aren't as uncommon as you might think. TSB Bank and AIB Bank are other examples.

Another one being MTV Music (or Music Television Music).

Well actually that doesn't count because officially MTV doesn't stand for Music Television anymore.

That it didnt' mean what it used to was also TVS' reasoning at the time I think.

I don't remember TSB ever being referred to as 'TSB Bank', it was just 'TSB' or 'The TSB'

Coming back to the original point of this thread, the idea of having different brands for different genres isn't new. In the Pearson days they did the same thing - Thames was drama, Grundy was gameshows (and Neighbours) and Alamo was used for their comedies.
