Channel 4 obviously can't get breakfast TV right anymore... so why not just go back to good old 4-Tel on View from say 6:30am-9am - of course it will be called FourText on view now!

Unless John Snow wants to do a breakfast news type show for 4 hours (doubt it!)

I wish they'd have a show devoted to Mel and Sue - they are absolutely brilliant! I thought they were just on holiday and were returning again. If so, then I hope it's at 7.30 instead, because I'm out the door by 8.00!

As Channel 4 are able to run programming all through the early hours without resorting to Nightscreen or Teletext Pages, then I can't see them doing that in the 6-9am slot. Can you ?

I was wondering when someone would say that . . . !

Sure, I'd love to see the BIG Breakfast come back, but realistically, they can't bring it back. Even if they wanted to.
The (former) BIG Breakfast House in Bow, E. London is now privately owned. C4 would either have to buy it back,
which isn't going to happen, find another house to convert, or build a new house. Again, that isn't going to happen.

Like I said earlier, C4 shouldn't even consider planning to launch any new dedicated breakfast TV show, whether it's
a reworked BIG Breakfast, or some other breakfast TV format that hasn't been tried yet, for at least two years after
the final edition of RI:SE is broadcast They should replace it with T4 Daily, or simulcast an MTV type channel.

YES!

Thank God they have axed this pile of rubbish, I mean it was good at first as the format was fresh and different from what he had seen before and it was watchable, in the days of Durden Smith, Gallacher, Rogers, Bonin, Murray and Bowman, but when all those had gone it went down even more.

But it's nice to know we have confirmation, frankly it was better over christmas/January when they had Futurama on at 7am, I would rather watch that anyday.

Fantastic news, as a BB fan this poor replacement was bound to fail from day one, Durden Smith is a cool presenter but the rest are just a perfect example of the sh!t presenters UK television has to put up with these days because of multi channel TV. The production was seconds rate and incredibly poor and when their original idea failed they turned the show into a poor mans version of the BB.

I hate to say it as I'd love to see the BB return in some shape or form, but as a realist the morning schedule should be as follows:

6am = Channel 4 News Early Update
6.05am = Pre-School Programmes
7am = Channel 4 News Early with Krish
8am = T4 Daily
9am = Channel 4 Early Update
9.05am = T4 Daily
10am = Schools
12noon = Channel 4 News at Noon

From what C4 have said today, the slot isn't going out to tender, but C4 do want to focus on offering an alternative in the morning.

They've said they won't do a news show and would like an entertainment format, but the slot may be split.

Won't miss RI:SE and don't want the Big Breakfast to return (comebacks never work). I'd suggest C4 launch two breakfast shows.

The first would run from 6.30-8am and be like SM:tv with cartoons filling most the slot. The second would run from 8-9.30am and be more entertainment based aimed at an older audience. After a trial period they would either keep both or ditch one, switching the other to the 7-9am slot.

Maybe a Saturday Morning style breakfast show would work - with something for the dads of course!

How can you say that breakfast television comebacks don't work? We've never had a show return before. Also, the feelings towards RI:SE are mostly bad, so an old favourite would be very welcome.

Obviously a comeback would need to be handled very carefully, but you can't just say "oh they can't bring it back because comebacks never work!".

That wouldn't work for breakfast telly. It would confuse the audience. That is treating daily breakfast television as if it is teatime, or saturday morning telly. Weekday breakfast is very different.

They need either one 2 hour show, and put lots of work into it, or just give up completely and shove some old episodes of Friends on.
