One question - what on EARTH has compelled so many Japanese people (100 per show) to take part in this? I know Craig Charles is translating the Japanese presenter for a British audience but even so, why do they apply to put themselves through all that? Great viewing BTW, very funny but slightly disturbing as well. What's their motivation? Do they get a prize?
They do get a prize, which is a quite a few grand. It's like footballers, they'll play, but get dirty, and possibly injure themselves. Same with Takeshi's Castle contestants.
Then again, they survive jumping in pig sh**e, so the Japanese have some sort of supernatural powers...
Pray tell, why are you watching Takeshi's Castle Katherine ?
I thought you only watched television with a higher purpose that provided you with an element of educational content with which to stimulate your mind.
I fail to see how a lot of Japanese people running on logs and on slippery poles meets your own very strict criteria. Or have we forgotten that today ?
I've just used the Currency calculator on Retuers' website, and thats only a smidge over £5000!
Anyway about Takeshi, I've tried getting into it, but I don't find it that funny, it can get stale after a while, it's more of a thing for Tarrant on TV, anyway I prefer watching Challenge for Bullseye.
