Why can’t ITV let the regions show what ever there like, I fed up with the Rubbish there show on a Saturday afternoon, I bet if there let them go back to how thing were done on a Saturday afternoon the quietly of the show would go UP,

I remember watching STV 5/ years ago and there a 1 hors kids show, a couple of good drams: airwolf, team knight rider, etc

But now where stuck with rubbish although it been a bit better today with that film Clockwise.

If all 15 regions did what want and show regional show, other drama, US stuff or even something better it would probably be better than what’s on now!

Well, seeing as the majority of the regions are owned by the same company, I doubt we'd see much change anyway. Granted, they show some rubbish at weekends, but if regions were in control, it'd be the same rubbish in a different order, more than likely.

The whole point of operating ITV1 (England & Wales) as a single channel (except for regional news/current affairs) would be completely lost if every region was allowed to show it's own schedule on a Saturday afternoon.

If you want to watch children's programmes there are upteen channels to choose from Very Happy

Since when were Airwolf and Knight Rider exclusively for children?

Wasn't the whole intire point of ITV 2 provide independent competition to the BBC, and to encourage regional competition? Otherwise the INdepentant Television Authority would have made a national contract.

The schedule we have on a Saturday afternoon now is simular to what we would get if it was open to regional variations anyway.

Its a shame Sunday afternoon is no longer regional (apart from 1 slot at 6pm i think) as the regions always did their own thing on Sundays

Well what did the regions show on Saturday afternoon - imported programmes and films. Sport sometimes as well. Basically what we are getting now.

People here seem to look back in rose-tinted spectacles and think that their ITV regions screen quality programmes!

The truth is they just screened rubbish - just a better variety of rubbish than what's served up nowadays!
