Can't BBC Wales afford logos anymore!

Just plain typed 'BBC' on Wales v Russia (November 2003)

Owan, you could apply the same argument to Channel 5 [five], since you get that from Wenvoe too, and that broadcasts to Wales. But the source isn't Wales, its transmitters just relay it.

Wenvoe and Moel-y-Parc are in effectively the same situation for HTV now.
Besides which, doesn't HTV News still go via London [as shown by when LNN wasn't working one morning on GMTV and everywhere except the north of England, Scotland and NI got the breakdown music]?

I CANNOT get five from the Wenvoe transmitter as it is not broadcast from it!

I have to turn my aerial to the Mendip transmitter and so as such five is transmitted from England to Wales!

Fair enough, my mistake -- just that I've never had to turn my aerial around to receive five, which is perfectly clear in the normal position. This is probably because Wenvoe and Mendip are at roughly the same bearing from the west.
I'd only move it to get the West/South West channels.

Just like ITV1 Wales, then.

ITV1 Wales is transmitted from LNN in London -- hardly regional!.

LNN must have a very large, powerful transmitter up in London to get the signal to reach the whole of Wales.

The point that is trying to be made is that it doesn't matter where the transmitters are anymore -- the centre of automation, continuity and playout is in London. Hence the channel is 'located' in England.

<The transmitter> isn't analogous with <the station>, it's just a tall structure of metal and wires.

Forgive me, but my limited television knowledge tells me that...

HTV News is produced in Wales and is sent to LNN in London who then playout the output to the transmitter in Wales.

So, its not transmitted from London but WALES!!

Where is the person who presses the button to put it on air?

*HMMM* (feels the need to bite at this one)

HTV News - a Carlton Production - broadcast from HTV Culverhouse Cross, Cardiff to LNN, London - Transmitted on ITV1Wales via Sky Satellite, Cable and transmitters throughout Wales!

Of course it's fair to say that HTV News comes from Wales - it's just everything else on ITV1 Wales that doesn't.

Anyway, back to the point: when Jez says "at least HTV have their proper logo on sporting events", which sporting events are shown by ITV1 Wales, but not shown in England?

This probably should have gone into The Almighty Wales Thread.

Why should I trawl through 200+ pages of stuff about Wales to see if this has been mentioned, and why should anyone else trawl thru to read my post?
