Rebrand is happening later this month, as described in the article.

I’m eager to see how Syfy’s new presentation will look, here in the UK. I’m starting to see the new logo grow on me at least.

Incidentally, the current Syfy branding will have only lasted for more than a year before replacement, as is the case with recent rebrands to the likes of Really and History.

A quick web search suggests that it comes from this article, though I don't know how reputable the site is. https://www.geektown.co.uk/2017/08/29/syfy-uk-rebrands-sets-uk-premiere-date-exorcist-season-2-october/

That's a shame Crying or Very sad

I quite like the current look, even though it's an evolution of the one from 2010. That new logo looks like something from a 1980s PacMan. Shocked

Still a stupid spelling.

Stupid maybe but necessary. 'Sci-fi' as a name isn't trademarkable or a unique search online.

That hasn't done Dave any harm though!

Someone should tell that to History.

I think Dave and History (the TV Channels) get their Google ranking because of the number of hits on their respective sites.

I suspect there would be many other sites with Sci-Fi in the title that would denude the position of a channel with that name. Sy-Fy is the unique name they came up with for a reason, and it's also trans-lingual.

They also list themselves as "SciFi - SyFy", so it comes up rather high on the Google list.

Aha, actually I meant someone should tell History to change their name in a similar way! Hystory perhaps? I've always agreed with the reasons for changing it to Syfy.

It's not been that easy for them, they have to call themselves Dave Channel on their website which is off brand somewhat. And there was a dispute over the name: https://www.ft.com/content/f7736590-2cae-11e0-83bd-00144feab49a

Dave is a name not a genre though. A better example is 'Drama', and that channel isn't exactly setting the world alight.

In fact not many of the UKTV channels has a great unique name. Though they're only aimed at the UK so it's not as big an issue
