Anyone know why one of the news miniscreens (either BBCi news or Sky News Active screen eight) is not used to rebroadcast a live clean feed of SVT's referendum programme.?
I'm sure there are a small minority of Swedes in this country who would like to watch the broadcast in the native language (not to say a handful of anoraks who are interested in overseas 'big event' tv presentation).
It surely can't be a rights issue can it?
Erm... yes!!
You can't just broadcast another broadcaster's work "because you want to, so tough".
SVT is, AFAIK, a member of the EBU, so if the EBU wanted to then they could in theory put that out to all other EBU members (RAI Italy, BBC United Kingdom, TF1 France, as well as non-contributing members like ITN and CNN. Sky incidentally are not members of the EBU and have in the past directed much criticism at it).
The BBC could contact SVT and put out a special request, and I doubt SVT would mind too much for it to be broadcast on BBCi, but really... why bother? A tiny, tiny, tiny number of people in the country speak Swedish, and the chances that they will find their way onto News 24 and the onto BBCi probably means you'd get under 100 people watching the thing. It wouldn't be worth the effort frankly.
You may get the BBC (and others) opting into SVT when the result is being announced, and you may see SVT graphics - this always happens when elections are being announced from France and Germany.
Sky have a contract with TV4 Sweden, who have coverage from 7.30CET until about 23.30CET, so you may see coverage (or just pictures) from there on Sky.
But I'd be amazed if the Beeb or Sky were to go to the trouble of broadcasting - in Swedish - a clean SVT/TV4 programme.
Oh. It's just gone back to News 24. Spoke too soon.
Don't know why N24 couldn't have stayed with World for a few more minutes; World stayed with Jon Sopel until about 1920BST, there seems to be no point in cutting out the last few minutes of it IMO.
Presumably both World and N24 will be back together at 2000BST.

Yep, they'll be joining forces from 8pm until 9.30pm, with World at the helm.
Anyone know if CNNI have anything special planned? The Sky EPG doesn't have anything listed and they're currently showing Design 360, but it would surprise me if they didn't lay on a programme.
It means we will get to hear the thunderclapless version of the World vamp and thankfully World's better aston which looks good on both News 24 and World!
Supporters conceded that the final results may not show a different outcome.
It looks more likely to be a 'no,'" Vice Finance Minister Gunnar Lund said.
The attack on Lindh, which police said did not appear politically motivated, occurred Wednesday in a downtown Stockholm department store during the final stages of campaigning, as she and other euro supporters stepped up efforts to convince voters Sweden should replace their currency, the krona, with the common currency.

TV4? isn't that on the Hotbird satellite with BBC World, I might take a look at TV4 if that's the case.
