ITV's Survivor is to make a return next spring. Survivor 2 will see contestants fighting for the £1m prize in Central America.

The series will be shown ahead of C4's new series of Big Brother next year. The US format has not been a huge success across Europe with the biggest criticism being that it is 'too American'.

I did like this show, although most people slagged it off, but It just seems that I love things that everyone else hates.

You love things that everyone hates? No. Remember the old News 24 Vs Sky arguements? I'm sure you were on the anti-me side then. *laughs*

You'd think ITV would learn though. The first series was a ratings disaster, nowhere near what ITV had hoped for and presented by John Leslie (if that's the best ITV can offer than there's a bit of a rethink needed there).

It's just a format borrowed from America that doesn't work over here. ITV need to think up some really original programming, something yet to be seen by a British audience. It seems the only company on the entire network that could do that is Granada, and let's face it, they've gone downhill ever since World In Action went.

I never watched Survivor but it's good to know it'll be making a comeback next year. Very Happy

Yeh, John Leslie was a mistake. He's a poor daytime TV presenter / gameshow host. Survivor needed the 'Davina' factor I guess of Big Brother.

I doubt very much that Mark Austin will do it again, particularly after the ribbing he got off Jonathan Dimbleby during the Election Coverage.

You have to ask why they would really want to repeat it! I mean mid way through the previous one they had to drastically cut it down, the advertisers hated it, the critics hated it and most of all most of the viewers hated it and as such never watched it!

Surely it's only going to make it's bad name even worse bringing it back, oh well - I don't care - should be good to see itv every1 laughing at them (again!) Very Happy

Its actually a British idea! From Charlie Parsons (Big Brekkie Creator), anyway thats why it was Planet 24 production and there were so many ex BB crew envolved. Anyway it was too tribally, they need to cut the crap and get down to the actual basic idea which is good.

Survivor 3: Africa started a couple of weeks ago. I've only ever seen the American versions and I really enjoyed them, so I don't know why the UK one might not be as good. I guess I'll just have to watch first and make up my mind.

I'm not sure if a second series is going to revive ratings, the saying 'flogging a dead horse' springs to mind....

He is a damn good presenter, The Mole really suits him.
