Did the Survivor one million pound 'live' final end a bir early in your region?
In HTV wales land the normal survivor curvy end credits appeared rushedly on the right (which you wouldve needed a magnifying glass to have read!) then eventually a survivor 2 promotion appeared without any audio for the first few seconds then half way through this promotion an itv sport channel promotion popper up before going back to the survivor 2 promotion. A short jingle for planet 24 appeared before the screen went black for a good 15 seconds. A few clicks and microphones could be heard before the break eventually was broadcast. There also seemed to be a long delay after the itv national weather.
Did the programme over or under run? Or was it pre-recorded?
I expect that the Survivor 2 advert and Book advert were voiced over live by Carlton announcers 'the loud voices'. It will have just been somebody forgetting to fade up the sound.
After the Planet 24 endcap, we in YTV/GRA/TTTV land had a advert for the Book, and then adverts as normal.
To go slightly OT, Jeremy on Breakfast a couple of mornings ago said 'FINALLY, the show has made front page news.' and Dermot O'Leary said 'An Islands with camera's. very overated!' then again, he was presenting Big Brother's Little Brother so he's hardly going to plug the other show.
It actually was a very good, entertaining show. I agree with what Nigel Lythgoe said it wasn't 'reality TV', it was a gameshow and should have been considered as such. The purpose wasn't to 'Survive' but to win £1m pounds, so the tag line, you don't win, you survive was nonsense really. He also criticised the scheduling, and I have to agree it was all over the place. They need to replace John Leslie next time as well, in my opinion he is not a good host, on anything, he's very lightweight.
The challenges, the voting, the bitching was infinitely more interesting than Big Brother and I am glad their is to be a 2nd series. It didn't capture the imagination too well this time around, but I'm pleased to see ITV giving it another shot, as they are all too quick to dump formats these days.

The only problem with O'Leary's comment was that he presents Channel 4's youth brand T4 which includes a certain show called Shipwrecked, which follows a group of 18-35 year olds on an island in the pacific.
The entire format was taken far too seriously, painted faces blah blah blah.
Who cares?
There were way too many people on the programme in the first place, I couldn't understand what any of them were like.
A lesson to ITV if ever there was one... don't try and do something new.
Stick with what you know. Bad quality, poor taste, worryingly tacky and one series only, shows.

I'm sorry to hear that, obviously the whole idea was over your head and became too complicated for your limited attention span. And these bad quality, poor taste, tacky shows are the ones that the Great British Public keep coming back to all the time, to make ITV the most watched channel in the country.
Somebody somewhere at ITV is doing something right.

Hmm I've always seen ITV as lowest common denominator television, it really is bad quality, believe it or not. But things don't have to be good quality to ensure high viewing figures.

yeah but did you see after some of the adverts, they really cocked up with the next few. They may have not been loaded or something, as a national ITV logo came up on the screen for about 30secs, before going into ITV's announcer, 'and now on ITV, the ITV News at ten'
I agree that the sheduling, promotion and presenters were, poor, I didn't actually watch a whole show, but I saw a few parts, I can't really comment fully, but in the promotions going on about tribes and all that, its just making it too 'were making this look realistic, and being islandy'. I think it allienated people who couldn't be bothered with tribes and all that, it needs to look at ship wreaked and see how they handled producing a show on an island.
