Bectu website - ITV outsourcing criticised

Apologies if it already has - I did a search and couldn't see it!

I know ITV wanted to sell off non-core assets, but this is slightly ridiculous. Since when was transmission not a core interest of the country's biggest commercial broadcaster?

You're right, but then the BBC have done exactly the same

Oops, good point. There'll be no ITV-bashing on that front then.

One of the few things ITV still has over the opposition is that transmission remains in-house. Whether their continuity is any good isn't the issue, the fact is they still do it themselves. And that's how it should remain in an ideal world.

To be honest I'm surprised they've not done this before now. ITV clearly doesn't give a rat's behind about its staff who, according to the Bectu article, have done the donkey work in making ITV a multi-channel operation and, for their troubles, could be cast aside. Another shining example of why an ACTT-like presence is needed today.

Don't worry, we'll find another front to bash Very Happy!

How do STV, UTV and CTV do their transmissions?

In house - just like the BBC Nations.

It doesn't really mean anything in terms of output; there's no diffrence between the BBC channels before and after privatisation.

That's not to say that say I agree with either sell off

ITV's DTT EPG assembly and uploading has already been farmed out.

The new company can only seem to refresh the data once a week. Looking now it appears to run out at 01:00 hrs on Thursday. This is a weekly occurrence, that is only corrected every Wednesday. The result being that you only get a 7 day ITV EPG if you look on Wednedsays !

EDIT 19:55 hrs 25/9. After three weeks of as described above they've finally found a way to update.
Well done !

Figure its the end for the London Televsion Centre. And ITV coming out of a Chiswick Industrial park won't quite be the same. Sad

The London TV Centre is full to bursting and the studios are very popular, I really can't see them closing it down.

Where has Chiswick been mentioned? There's no reason why it can't stay where it is in both London and Leeds
