Heya,
Incase you are suffering wthdrawal symtoms from Sunset Beach being axed (I know I am!!) then there's hope because it will be returning very soon to five*
It will be on VERY early on Saturday and Sunday mornings at, wait for it, 3:35AM but it will be commercial free and will last 45mins.
However, when it returns it will ony be shown on Sunday for that weekend before it gets shown on Saturdays aswell.

Here is the schedule:
Sunday 6th March: 3:35am-4:20am
Saturday 11th March, 3:35am-4:20am
Sunday 12th March (not confirmed), 3:35am-4:20am

Don't get confused, the TV guides will class it as Friday and Saturday nights but they are officially in the mornings so set the correct date fot the VCR!

Wow, if your a soap fan then Frday Nights(saturday mornings) will be your thing because there is:
Sunset Beach (us soap)
Melrose Place (us soap)
Sons & Daughters double (aussie soap)

Anyway, even though it is only on at the weekends I am really happy to see that five are showng SB again and actually care for there viewers (unlike ITV). Sadly, I doubt they will be buying seasons two and three now because of the "low" ratings.

It's good that it is back, but on the other hand it will be painful to watch at that rate. Other soaps which got consigned to the middle of the night at the weekend (Sons&Daughters, Prisoner, and indeed, Melrose Place) still work fine at the slower rate of 2 episodes per week because they were designed to run at more or less that rate anyway.

But Sunset Beach was a US daytime soap; by it's very nature it was designed to be stripped into the same timeslot every weekday, meaning that it needs to be scheduled 5 times a week or it will run at a much slower rate than is intended. And considering that Sunset Beach was never exactly known for its pace (remember Trey's birthday in 1999, where 4 weeks worth of episodes were spent depicting a single day?), it will become deathly slow to watch at that rate.

They will now take a year to show just over 4 months worth of episodes!

Oh well, at least it's back.

Its a shame it going to be on at such an inconvenient time, this always happens with soaps shown on FIVE, they end up being moved to such an early hour of the morning.

I agree with cwathen, it will be dragged out too much with 2 episodes a week, although they only have the rights to the first year, and I doubt they will get the rights for the final 2.
