The Five continuity announcer said today that on friday is 'the series finale that ends on a cliffhanger'. This has been posted on the moresunsetbeach message board:

I took my theory to the channel 5 phone (08457050505) and they told me that they will continue sunset beach season 2 (even though it isn't chronologically season 2 its just when the music changes <I think!>. They just need more time slots as they're bringing out new shows eg: Joey's Place.

They know S.B. is a favourite and remember it was them that started "Save Our Sunset" which I signed 15 times

Anyway, it will be a while.......but I hope they don't change their minds..

This is the reply I got from FIVE

Dear Jeremy

Thank you for your recent e-mail regarding Sunset Beach.

We were sorry to read your comments regarding our decision not to continue showing repeats of the programme and understand that this has caused disappointment for some viewers. We have been very open from the start that we would keep an eye on the popularity of Sunset Beach when it returned to the channel and review its performance after four months.

Unfortunately, the re-runs have not proved to be very popular and, consequently, we have decided to remove them from the schedule. At this time we have no plans to screen it in an alternative slot. We are sorry for the disappointment that this may have caused but do hope that you will enjoy the TV dramas that will replace the programme.

Thank you for your interest in Five.

Yours sincerely

At the end of Sunset Beach yesterday the annoucer said that it would be "taking a break", this implies that it could return but in e-mails FIVE have said it wont, why cant they just say one way or the other?

We got the same announcement when Sons and Daughters disappeared at the end of 1998. That eventually returned (in 2002) in a thru-night slot. Perhaps SB will eventually return, maybe after S&D ends in September?

With Sons and Daughters, I understand that FIVE said during 1999 they would bring it back, this then changed over a period of time to them saying they had no plans to show any more eps, and then it surprisingly turned up in the schedules in early 2002.

The way they announced Sunset Beach was taking a break made it sound like it was almost certain it would come back, why couldnt they just admit they axed the show? At least stop giving viewers false hope.

According to two sources on Digitalspy forums, five are bringing back SB in a late night time slot later on in March!! Very Happy
