Central (East) East Midlands Today
I was watching Sunrise the other day and i noticed at the TOTH they were using a Today show bed for the headlines, but only on the tuesday, all other days they seemed to use their own music, and i can't seem to find any connection from Channel 7 to NBC or Comcast or Universal and so i can only assume they were using it, illegally? Please can someone explain, Thanks Laughing

I think you’ll find there’s been a close partnership between 7 and NBC for quite a few years now. 7’s national and local news bulletins use cuts of “The Tower” (NBC’s news theme, used on “Nightly News”, “Meet the Press” and others):
. NBC reports and OBs are used regularly when covering US stories.
In addition, Sunrise uses the Studio 1A plaza for their occasional US road trip shows, as seen here:

EDIT: The NBC News theme is called “The Mission”. Thanks Freddie for pointing that out - not sure where I got “The Tower” from.

'The Tower'? Never heard it called that before, it's definately 'The Mission'

I don't watch the Sunrise morning show, but it's very interesting THAT specific theme was used. It had been used back in the late 80s for the Nightly News bulletins. If they had gone more of the NBC Today theme, that might have been a lot more inline with their content.

Seven and NBC have had a strong partnership since the 80s, they share stories, journalists and often have agreements with content. It's not too surprising that a lot of Seven's news related programs have a NBC style approach with design and content delivery.

Unfortunately, “The Mission” hasn’t been the Today theme for many years, though it’s still used by NBC Nightly News and Meet the Press. It’s a classic orchestral theme if ever there was one, composed by John Williams.

Yes, TODAY has used a theme by Adam Gubman of NonStop Music since 2013, with a small update in 2015
