Following on from the discussion of the Legal and General Sponsors of the ITV Local Weather. Does anyone remember the Sunlife sponsors that sponsored the ITV Local Weather in the late 1990's. I vagually remember it briefly sponsoring the HTV Wales region. Here is the clip of that sponsor in question from the Meridian region. It's near the end of the video:
I don't unfortunately no. I believe Carlton/LWT never used them IIRC, the sponsors for the weather went as follows (from memory although I could be wrong):
1991-1992 - Thames Television - Norwich Union
1991-1994 - LWT Weather - Legal & General
1993-1994 - Carlton - Legal & General
1994 (short period) - Carlton/LWT - No sponsor just a generic graphic of London & all four seasons of weather
1994/5-1998(?) - Carlton - Amarada
1994/5-1998(?) - LWT - First Choice Holidays
1998(?) (short period) - LWT unsponsored again
1998-2001/2 - LWT - Warner Village Cinemas
1999-2001/2 - Carlton - Topps Tiles
Not really sure who sponsored them after the names were done away with on screen, I'll be honest that the above may be inaccurate as well, but I definitely remember LWT, at least twice, having a period of no sponsorship & Carlton once I believe. However Sunlife never made it as a sponsor in London at least.
Yorkshire had Yorkshire Electric and Granada had United Utilities for the earlier part of the 2000s too (before they all went down the BMI Baby route around 2004/2005). Tyne Tees had Budget and Topps Tiles in the early part of the 2000 decade too. I should know as I've got most of the stings from the era on the site....

I think LWT had BMI baby for a while as well, up until recently it was 118-118.com, now it's hotels.com, not sure what Carlton's is now though.
1991-94 Legal & General
1995-98? First Choice
1999-2000 Staybrite Windows
2000 The Accident Group (very short lived!) they also had a Local car dealer around this time too
2001-04 United Utilities - also appeared on Border for the same duration
2005-09 BMI Baby
2010 Plus Net Broadband - for about 3/4 days the other week, and now Jet2 Holidays.
Surely UTV hold the honour of the longest regional weather sponsorship deal?
Their forecasts have been sponsored by the Progressive Building Society for at least 15 or 16 years (almost pushing the Powergen National Weather deal for longevity) - and they're also using Progressive sponsor stings on the Skiing Forecast, which was always sponsored by BMI Baby down the years.
IIRC, the only other sponsors of UTV weather have been Legal and General (1991-1992), Cawoods coal merchants (1992-1993) and Belfast International Airport (1993-1994).
