A possible exception may be LWT - LWT Production was a very strong production company - and has a very strong brand.

They beat ya to it - Night and Day's a 'Granada Production for LWT', albeit with a Big G endboard rather than a purple.
Shame... I like purple, my fav. color as it 'appen...

I think it's ridiculous that they'd keep LWT and not the others. LWT is just another Granada company, why should it be treated any differently?

The Granada programme for LWT endcap of course is only a temporary measure on N&D. I'm not sure what it will change to but the standard Granada Media Production slide is the most likely suspect.

Don't know if it has already been posted...

From the end of 2001 all Granada Production Companies will be using the new style End Caps.

Seven have been produced, one for each regional franchise production base and a generic Granada one. (They look great!)

On ITV Network programmes, the logo will be left of screen to accommodate the right of screen swril. On regional programmes, the end cap will be full screen.

Interesting... seven?

Is that seven plus the generic GR/N/D/ one or are one of Granada's seven regional franchises left out?

I've seen, or heard about Tyne Tees, YTV, Granada, Meridian and Anglia; so far no sign of LWT or Border. If one of those two is missed out, which one is it?

If Border does have one, what have they used for a logo?

And, by any chance, were these produced in Leeds? They do seem awfully similar in design to YTV's current logo from Ballistix, and indeed the ITV hearts idents themselves.

(Sorry the questions have got a bit geeky here Wink)

It's seven plus the generic one. Border and LWT will have their own End Cap.

They have been produced in Southampton (Granada's Design Unit) and in Leeds.

I've seen colour version of the Granada one (purple) and B&W of all the others.

I was wondering when they would turn up.

Those endcaps weren't supposed to be used until December. So it would appear that Anglia and Meridian started using them at the right time, but Granada, YTV and Tyne Tees jumped the gun and used them in November. No surprise there, the United channels always were more professional than the GMG North ones.

The new End Caps were designed in November and were to be used immediately as production / editing allowed.

Ultimately, they must be in use across the group by the end of 2001.

Yeah, I think they're all purple. I was told about the TTTV one a few days before they showed it on Channel 4, and was told that everyone was getting one although my contact had no idea what the others looked like. He spoke of some 'artistic licence' which I can only take to mean that the regions had some say in how the endcaps looked, although looking at the ones I've seen so far they're all very similar so that's obviously BS. Of course Tyne Tees just had theirs sent up the line, they're not really central enough to have seen the others I guess.

Any ideas what the Border one looks like? Smile

I think what we're asking is do the chopsticks make a return Razz

What is in the background of the Border one? I think it could be just normal letter 'B''s

Althought LWT badly needs to update their Production slide it will be a shame to see it go as it was their last best ident

Hopefully if these new purple logos make it here then lets hope they are as good as they look

I'm just wondering how they're going to get around the sticky little problem of the fact that TTTV *always* put the copyright info on the endcap, rather than at the end of the programme like just about every other TV company in existence does....

Copyright information can appear at the bottom of the end caps, unless it has already appeared as part of the programme credits - as is required in the new ITV Credit Gudielines.

As for Border, er, I haven't seen that one, erm, it hasn't been 'designed' yet! So we can only speculate!

Hmmm, so GMG are having as much difficulty with Border's image as ITV did....

Wouldn't a copyright message on an endcap which already has a Production caption and 2 logos on it already look a bit cluttered though?
