I suspect beepy is implying that the studio was built to be a studio due to the fact it was built as part of the conversion of the mailbox into its current form rather than just an office with a small lighting rig hanging from the celing.
Sadly though - if you've seen the Midlands Today studio - you'll know that isn't the case... Very limited space and a far from great lighting grid. It may have been built to be used as a studio - but it was built to a pretty low budget by the look of it.
You only have to compare the Midlands Today studio at the Mailbox to the studios in Southampton, Plymouth, Newcastle etc. to see the difference. (And I mean compare the studios - NOT the sets in them)
