Personally I'd axe the EastEnders omnibus, move Sunday Grandstand to BBC1 and have a couple of movies on BBC2.

As for the news - I guess it's as they can't find something else to battle Corrie.

They need to axe the Sunday 10pm bulletin and Panorama (move to Monday 8.30pm) as with Match of the Day on Saturday, Sunday is the only potential slot for uninterupted post-watershed films or drama. I think a season of British Films would be ideal for the Sunday night slot!

It makes even less sense nowadays - young people, presumably ITV's core audience, are out on Friday and Saturday nights, so you would think Sunday would be the day to catch them. Instead there's a real bid to catch younger people on Saturday nights, when they're all out on the town.

Are you sure young people are ITV's core audience? They might be their 'target' audience, but I suspect it's core audience - and I'm thinking of the popularity of Paul O'Grady as one example - is probably over 40. Would anyone disagree?

Can't remember the last time I watched terrestrial TV on a Sunday. If I'm in I'll stick Sky Sports 1 on and watch the football for most of the day.

Football's even more boring than Songs of Praise & The Antiques Roadshow together!

Why the hell the Sunday news is scheduled at 7.35pm now and then two hours later at ten is beyond me!

They've found that it gets a far higher audience before the 8pm programme than it ever did earlier in the evening. And it's a regular slot now (has been for many months). It used to wander around the schedule like a lost sheep and would occasionally be on as early as 4.45pm, sometimes after 6pm. I agree though, that having the evening bully at 7.35pm and then the late at 10pm does mean that the two programmes are quite close together. No closer than the six and the nine used to be though...

Well I can't really say much at the minute, but it is recognized that Sundays are pants... and there a few things in the pipeline that will hopefully revive the schedules.

Let's face it, Sunday afternoons have always been poor - teatime used to be better with the classic children's serials and Bullseye though.

Most people are out and about doing other things on a Sunday afternoon so why spend cash putting on anything more than they do at the moment?

I agree, especially during summer this is a relatively "dead" time in terms of grabbing a captive audience - so why waste anything decent in the slot. However, during the winter months it would be nice nice to curl up in front of a decent drama or film after a nice roast lunch and a few pints in the pub Very Happy Very Happy

EDIT:
Oh no, I must be getting old! Confused Confused

Yes you are right! Winter Sundays should be have some curl up and watch stuff on for the very reasons you suggest Smile
I usually end up watching DVDs or old videos on a Sunday afternoon through the winter.
