Would have posted this in the original 'The Bill' thread, but that's since been archived. Was that Sun Hill making an appearance in tonight's 'New Tricks' on BBC1?

Yes, it's rented out and appeared on a LOT of programmes since The Bill finished.

Thanks Mike, I didn't know what had happened to the complex since The Bill finished. It's good to know that the sets aren't going to waste.

Was going to start a thread related to this. The Bill is massive loss to ITV. I think their evening schedule after the soaps is very un-enticing. They are missing a good drama like The Bill to bulk up their nighttime programming. The BBC have taken advantage and have new crime dramas.

it makes sence to keep it for other tv programmes to use

Agreed. The BBC has Holby City and Waterloo Road doing very well in 8pm slots. ITV could really do with one themselves and must be wishing they hadn't messed up The Bill.

I agree also, they got rid of The Bill due to ratings but I'm sure if they had given it time they could have turned this round somewhat, as a result The Bill has been replaced by bugger all, surely it would have been better to have a programme in that slot that you could have eventually draw an audience back to rather than s***ty fillers that no one is interested in watching?

BTW, glad to see the facilities are in full use & not succumbed to the housing bulldozer.

I still maintain that medical drama; 'Monroe' was designed as a slap in the face to Bill fans.

The Bill could be revived. Sadly it won't happen. Reality TV and edgy drama is what attracts viewers.

Presumably ITV really want an 'in house' hit though - not something they commission from an indie? Whilst 'The Bill' was originally an ITV in-house production, as it was made by Thames when they were a franchise holder, it became an indie when Thames lost their ITV franchise and became a production company in 1992, now Talkback Thames.

I think ITV are keen to have some internal hits - as there is more money if you own the DVD/BD/Vod rights, international sales etc.

It is worth noting since The Bill went ITV have been back to having two weeknight dramas at 9pm (usually Mon/Thu) - and unlike recent years this year they've pretty much all been successful and are all in with a shot of returning.
