A 'sudden death' situation in Neighbours

I don't want to spoil any Neighbours (the soap) fan but in an episode next week it appears Steph's boyfriend Woody has a 'sudden death'.

Reading about this has lead me to think of many sudden deaths in Neighbours' history - here are a few prime examples:

Jim Ramsay had a heart attack after playing with Hannah, it happened just out of the blue.
Brendan Bell (Tess's husband) was in hospital recovering when he suddenly passed away.
And Madge Bishop suddenly died in hospital, after a near-100% recovery (shame I didn't see that).

I'm not criticising the makers of Neighbours but it is funny how 'background characters' are suddenly kicked out of the soap by dying or some other way. Neighbours have done this too many times...can't they find another way?

well Woody just left Whitness Protection, so it isnt sudden, and Madge found out that she had Cancer, so that wasnt exactly sudden

I think youve got it wrong there - Madge dies at home in her own bed with Paul and Harold and Tad etc round her, she passes away as Harrold held her talking about their plannned trip to Paris. She had cancer and it was part of the main storyline for over a month

Neighbours is a so out of touch nowadays, not that it was classic tv but like Prisoner Cell Block H it was must watch crap! BBC One should either just show it at 13.45 or shove onto BBC Three whenever that starts!!! Very Happy

Brendan had also just had a car crash so that wasn't exactly sudden either.

Neighbours is alright, and gets easily 7m viewers, I don't think they'll be sticking it on BBC 3!

With the BBC dedicating a whole morning to it tomorrow (A morning with Neighbours) as part of its aniversay in the uk and the BBC going out to Australia to film another series of neighbours revealed they arent exactly not interested in it and neither are the Brittish public!

(I don't like your idea of a 'sudden death'!)

I think they could have done better title sequences, recently.

But if you want to find out who will be leaving the show in advance see the Neighbours website, or visit Australia, where their episodes are over six weeks ahead of Britain's.
