why is it that the names of people are bleeped out yet the subtitles state the name?

It's not only happened on that, but it's even happened on Judge Judy on ITV2 when things have been bleeped out. Someone in Subtitling will get their fingers rapped I imagine...

It was a repeat from 2007 as well, you'd have thought they'd have noticed by now.

I've seen some repeats of these style of programmes which have had the names bleeped after the original transmission. Maybe who ever did the edit didn't alter the subtitles?

Someone has complained in the past about this programme, perhaps they were all edited for future repeats as a result.

I've seen many occasions on different channels where shows that have had bad language bleeped have retained it in the subtitles.

It seems that it's just forgotten about when the networks make edits, resulting in the original subtitles going out alongside the edited show.

I'd guess it depends on how they edit it. If the copy they are editing doesn't have subtitles burned on then they probably can't see the subtitles. Its not really that big an issue anyway, they're all relatively cheap shows that are pretty much the same and merge into one. They aren't going to spend hours upon hours re-editing one.

Well they should. Names being bleeped after the fact can only be for legal reasons. Do they want to be sued?
