Although as a reply to the announcement tweet points out, Farage was on QT last night, what's the difference?

A political debate show with representatives from different views / parties is very different to one politician from one party appearing on a satirical comedy show. I’d have hoped that’d be pretty obvious, at least here if not on a Twitter.

One is very much within the rules during an election period, one very much isn’t. The producers of HIGNFY should have realised this.

Indeed, although it’s just added fuel to the fire on Twitter where many users are still raging after Farage’s appearance last night and are saying the BBC is biased. Let’s just hope he’s not booked on this week’s Marr or else they will all explode.

It's just really odd, no-one when recording it last night thought it would be an issue?

Virgin EPG doesn't update live.

Nope, so screws up anyone recording WILTY because of the decision to pull it forward. I could rant and rave all day as to the craziness of not having a reactive EPG in 2019. I just don't understand how/why Virgin won't implement this feature.

I can only guess they thought they could clear anything up in the edit. They finished the edit, the BBC saw it and realised it couldn’t go out. Would explain why it was so late in the day, but surely someone producing the programme would have thought before hand? Seemingly not.

Yes it's presumably not her precense that's the issue but something said/shown in it. It might be that thy can reedit it for the extended version on Monday

I’d have thought even her presence was problematic and that should have been obvious. Maybe not though, as I’d expect the BBC know the guests, possibly even having some say over them.

Usually politicians get dropped during election notices - one was dropped after the snap election was called. It's not like the show is precorded a long time in advance - it was recorded this week. How they thought it could air makes no sense.

Also tenable next week features Anne Widercombe (An actual candidate) - surely will be postponed.

That might explain the producers thinking - they thought they could balance it out by having two guests with opposite views on one week after each other.

Interesting perspective from someone with a lot of relevant experience:

Very odd that they actually got as far as recording the episode and were less than an hour from TX before the show announced that they'd been pulled! You would think the BBC have oversight of guests so presumably something was said that they couldn't quickly edit so it's been canned.

The question now though, is whether we'll ever see this episode? By nature it's not going to age well if they wait until after the EU elections, but it's very rare these days that a TV show gets filmed and that the episode never sees the light of day!
