Yes, I was a bit surprised at using that language when he was answering questions at the committee meeting.

Was interesting to see STV report on this during last night’s news, with Bernard Ponsonby ending by saying that not everyone buys into the new vision for STV and that strike action is possible, with it being the first in 20 years.

Sadly it's a case of job cuts now for a (not insignificant) few or the risk of significant job cuts across the entire company should they continue with with loss making projects, though I guess with STV even if they go bust they'll never be a point where the Channel 3 licence is closed completely, but even ITV taking over would surely see many efficiencies made by removing duplicate roles.

STV makes a decent amount of money, which has allowed it to be a little indulgent. It was heading for a fall the way it was going, and I agree overall with the points this guy is making. Also, journalists moan the minute they're told to do anything different or new. The problem is that, while no doubt there will be stupid stuff they're being asked to do as part of any reorganisation, there was stupid stuff going on as it stood anyway. For example, why on earth were they making two versions of every video they produced? https://twitter.com/ChristopherSTV/status/1004660561236447233?s=20

That being said, there is a way of handling huge change that doesn't involve coming across as a dick.

Just to ask how much did STV make for selling it off?

That's worth more than gold in Scotland right now.

Oh I know, my work orders some for meetings with customers (you'd be surprised how many international customers ask to try Irn-Bru and shortbread when they arrive in Glasgow!). We shoved the 38% away, said we ran out and ordered the new crap, now we have a secret stash lol Razz
james-2001 and London Lite gave kudos

One of my friends in Scotland has a stash too, but it's ran down to 10 cans now. He thinks that Irn Bru Xtra actually tastes better than the new recipe.

You know what? Xtra's so good I can't even tell it's not the original, unlike the Diet variety. Smile

And to think I was trying to avoid the stereotype.

Nobody's mentioned deep fried Mars bars or haggis. There's time.
