Rumour has it UTV are going to bid for SMG:

Oh didn't expect news like that. I hope it's not true - UTV don't seem to give a s*it if what I read on here is right.

I don't know if OFCOM would raise any objections about the only two national independent analogue radio stations being under similar ownership... Mr. Green

The Competition Commission on the other hand...? Surprised

Sorry, I had just read this... to react thus:

Why do I suddenly feel if, after UTV plc buys SMG, that ITV plc would make a bid for UTV plc itself? If that happens, then the nightmare comes true... ITV plc owning all of the British Isles... then who's to say the Channel Islands won't be next?

Any word yet on if Grampian will have a farewell show or weekend like LWT did?

I don't think that the classic Grampian logo ever varied much over the years/decades did it? Basically just the St Andrew flag, 2D, matt colour... uninspired. So, a chronological résumé, like LWT's farewell junction, would be very uninteresting.

Having said that, I suppose it really deserves a proper send-off, as a matter of principal. But, I can't realistically imagine SMG bothering.
