Oh didn't expect news like that. I hope it's not true - UTV don't seem to give a s*it if what I read on here is right.

I don't know if OFCOM would raise any objections about the only two national independent analogue radio stations being under similar ownership... Mr. Green

The Competition Commission on the other hand...? Surprised

Ohh and SMG do......erm NOT!!

I only hope that Grampian get what LWT got when they closed up shop. Then LWT took back the IVC for the weekend and some old idents. Grampian will get a 30 second slot on North Tonight probably???

I have heard that UTV intend to take over Ireland's TV3(have heard this would require a share issue), and one has to wonder how deep their pockets are when it comes to buying luxuries such as SMG.

ITV PLC have said in times past that taking the Glasgow firm over was a somewhat rich proposition, and just compare the relative sizes of the two companies..... Confused

That's exactly what S Club 7 used to say if anyone asked what their S stood for. Laughing

Well there is a story (unsure if it is true) that when Grampian launched in 1961 it was origanally going to be named Scottish Highlands Independent Television or S.H.I.T for short!!! Very Happy

Still though a great shame that after all these years it will soon be no more!!

It would have been more acceptable if both stations were given a complete new name!

The new idents do include people, but they're set at locations, such as the science centre in Glasgow. I think they've also been filmed in Dundee, Edinburgh, Aberfoyle & Inverness- possibly some other places too. They were shot a couple of weeks ago on film... I think the idea is that they're similar to the new ITV1 idents.

Yes.....never been one to go for that option but if it is a choice of a new itv1Scotland or Glasgows STV - itv1 Scotland would win every time.
