To be honest, the only long term future I can see for STV is on the web.
They flogged their interest in digital telly to ITV PLC some time ago and probably continue to regret that decision.
The only expansion to the brand that can exist is by putting stuff on the web, so therefore it makes sense to throw the address everywhere.
They're going to need to do better than the piss-poor "for more programme information log on to stv.tv" announcements to get people excited about it though.

During the rugby world cup a dog was permanently in the top right corner for "stv.tv/rugby" despite of course the presenters advertising the full national world cup website "itv.com/rugby". It's quite pathetic really.

Sounds very similar to the way that S4C show Big Brother one hour later than Channel 4 : sheer bloody-mindedness.
"Oooh we're Welsh - we refuse to conform to the English way of doing things - we have a mind of our own - we're going to do it differently by showing it an hour later".
Absolutely pathetic.

stv do this a lot. It's unfortunately a "Scottish thing" of thinking Scottish people will somehow back the brand more if it's is overtly Scottish.

Apparently, it was due to rights issues.
STV/Border Scotland viewers are only allowed to see two live matches from the ITV network. If the Liverpool match was shown, that would have meant an extra game was shown (which breaks the contract rules). Thus, at the last minute, viewers saw the Chelsea match instead.

In the same way that ITV England & Wales viewers are only allowed to watch two games from the ITV network.

**** off....that's because they have their own programmes to show which as they are a Welsh-specialist network they are obliged to do because of the LAW... if you have to wait an hour for your precious reality TV so that another social group get their programming, then you're the pathetic one.
Buy a freeview box you moron.

Incidentally, did ITV Border Scotland switch its programming, or is it in breach of contract?

But their viewers want to see Big Brother, not a Welsh rural affairs programme. What happened to catering for viewer demand? I stand by my assertion that it's a bloody-minded anti-English political decision, and most Welsh viewers agree with this and are constantly exasperated by S4C.
