I hope they are'nt showing it on Border!!! We get enough programmes from up there! Rolling Eyes

And what exactly is wrong with showing it on Border? They can just show it on Border Scotland surely, and even if not, it's much better than Network's offering.

Jim D is still presenting. Julyan Sinclair and Sarah O (Radio Clyde 'presenter') assist with witty asides and no in-depth analysis.

Well at the start of the STV show after the sponsorship the screen went black and you could clearly hear Stephen Jardine saying to Lorraine "oh thank god for that it's a good start"but something went wrong with the titles .They started to run them and then stopped either they weren't supposed to show the titles at that stage and wanted a quick hi from Lorraine and Stephen or they had a problem .

Then they cut to the Lorraine and Stephen and they intoduced themselves then the titles rolled and eventually covering their backs we got we are live across Scotland from Aberdeen to etc etc that's so they don't feel left out up north i suppose .At least they never mentioned "This Channel".

Gail Porter was down amongst the crowds in Princess Street and i thought she was a cheeky little smart ass to some of the crowd and got the feeling that this was a quick gig and i do not want to be here as it is new year .Julyan Sinclair was down in Biggar now he or someone else should have been up north somewhere instead of Biggar. Then again SMG seem to think that there is nothing north of the forth road bridge .
I never watched all of it but from what i did see it wasn't great a montage of Kay Adams,Tommy Sheridan, Margo Macdonald, Stuart Cosgrove and the other usual suspects on life in Scotland throught 2004 oh and they had the organiser of the street party on as a guest what a bore that was.Ian Rankin was on but i never saw him.

I thought Lorraine was alright and in good spirits she looked fantastic and i liked when she did say happy new year to Steven and Rosie in Tayport .One thing i thought was hilarious they were obviously going out to the Border region and the lucky viewer who won the competition was a Border viewer Very Happy .

Think it is time to review the show it was crap NO live music courtesy of SMG oh yes they did plug Blondie and Scissor Sisters but they were part of the street party .

Biggar is on one of the southern extemeites of Scottish's area - beyond there it's Border territory.

Had to laugh when they wished a happy new year on behalf of all at Scottish, Grampian and Border given that Border England was staying with the network!

Hogmanay Live 05 was another major embarrassment for SMG. The programme was so dull and boring, it made you want to cry and go to sleep.
It started six minutes late and the opening sequence screwed up. The sound was so poor you could barely hear anything. It took twenty minutes to rectify. For goodness sake SMG, we have these sound problems EVERY year, get them sorted out. Two years ago, Brian’s wander among the crowds had to be ditched because of sound problems, and that was a major part of the show. This year it was Gail Porter, whom normally I like, but she might as well not have been there for all she did. Amongst the thousands in the streets she took about five steps throughout the programme, and kept talking to the same people. She looked very disinterested.
Next, the wrong e-mail address was given out for people to send in greetings messages. Lorraine then gave out the wrong phone number for the competition and struggled with it thereafter. Dangling the carrot of a £2005 prize will have done nothing to keep the audience, who would have channel hopped after ten minutes.
SMG promised they would have cameras all over Scotland. We visited Julyan at ONE location, Biggar. They also promised top talent and entertainment, when all we got was one act that was cut short for a commercial break. The web cam visits to see what was happening all over Scotland never materialised either.
It appears SMG gave up on this show before it was aired. It was the least promoted Hogmanay show ever. By the way, SMG, a first foot normally arrives at midnight not thirteen minutes late, and we did not find out who he was until he told us a street had been named after him.
For Grampian viewers there was almost zilch once more. A couple of greetings across the screen and a couple of mentions from Black Watch soldiers, and a happy new year from the Grampian news team, voiced by ex STV newsreader Andrea. Grampian management should do more for their region. It time for something else to be tried at Hogmanay. The Beeb never trounced Grampian when it was independent. Nowadays, year in year out, BBC Scotland wipes the floor with anything SMG offers, and this year will be no exception.
Stephen Jardine tried hard, but the Tennents lager ad after midnight was far more entertaining.
After the Hogmanay show it was Live and Loud for the THIRD time, and Maggie the continuity announcer obviously left early, as there were just station ids at the 12.15 junction, no HAPPY NEW YEAR.

One other thing that i found annoying was the Happy New Year wishes appearing on screen the same time the fire works were going off Evil or Very Mad .What was the point of that it blocked out some of the view .It was just as bad as watching SKY News with those annoying graphics. Rolling Eyes

I thought Julyan Sinclair did a good job from Biggar, it was nice to see somewhere a bit different on screen at least Laughing
