The current idents that are being used are from STV2. STV started using these after the channel closed.
As for STV News, the current look has been going now since 2014 and I think is the longest look STV News has had. They used to have a refresh every 3-4 years. At the moment the current look still works well and the music has now been in use for 15 years.

IMO the news studio looks a bit old when you compare it to the likes of itv news. Granted they probably have a larger budget than STV do but i still think they could do something a bit better than they have just now.

Is that including the ones they use for advertising for STV Player? ie advertising certain shows followed by a colour? lets say Corrie and its purple?
I have always thought the STV News theme was updated but am surprised its still being used.

I don't see why the cannot drop the triangle as before it was a big S for STV, i'm at a guess the triangle part was for the TV part of the logo (well it looks more like it to me)

I think the logo would look better in the style of the UTV logo but I don’t see that happening unless they are bought by ITV.

I understand what you are saying but who is to say that ITV will do another rebrand in next couple years? The UTV logo will probably change too, maybe bring a bit creative here but they could just revive the thistle look once more and have that as the logo?, or just use the old Grampian TV flag logo lol

I do remember the theme to North Tonight but when it became STV News it changed (2005 was the change?)

I've noticed sponsored idents this week on STV. First time I've ever seen this.
Starts off looking like a sponsor for Visit Scotland then the CA comes in over the top and ends on the blue STV ident.
