I did wonder that, but others have mentioned complexities with the licence requirements of the Channel 3 areas. Don't think a single show for Scotland from Glasgow would cut it for the Grampian region. Mind you, maybe they will lobby for changes.
I can't imagine the current Ten from ITV resonates with Scottish viewers much - but maybe that's a generalisation, based on too much personal opinion on my part.

Does no one else think this programme my be a pilot for something they might want to do the 6pm or 10pm hour on the main channel?

I meant Tom's style, but I think my personal opinions might be colouring my view a bit.

The current Ten is quite internationally focused though, so as relevant to Scottish viewers as others in the UK.

I think there's a bigger issue with the 6pm bulletins than the 10pm bulletins. The 10pm bulletins, as has been pointed out, are more internationally-focused. They may have the odd England and Wales story but they're not front and centre.
The 6pm bulletins, on the other hand, often lead off on stories which are exclusively England and Wales ones and have another one or two stories in a similar vein. They would benefit from either a dedicated Scottish news show or a top and tail.
I can only imagine that STV's news department in Glasgow is gagging to do a Scottish Six given this announcement, and it would be less controversial UK-wide to do so than for the BBC to do it. But the former Grampian region and any potential political backlash will be taken into account. This is a broadcaster that not too long ago was embroiled in a bit of controversy over its comment section on the website, so I imagine they'll be playing things a bit safe at the moment.

I definitely think this is a pilot for C3. Give it a year and we'll see STV News Tonight on C3 with a 15 minute local opt. STV2 will carry 15 minute local news shows at 7pm and 10pm to justify the changes. It's all very obvious.

It may be 15min local opt out but there would also a 10min sport opt out. Plus 5mins for weather.

AFAIK once the now programme starts it will be available to viewers from the Black Hill, Craigkelly, Angus, Durris and Darvel main stations although with less power than the PSB muxes.

Alsa I live in one of those areas which can not get without paying for a upgraded aerial . From what I can gather there a good number of people will need to have sky or pay for the costly upgrades.

Does anyone know the status of the Inverness and Forth Valley local tv licenses? I don't see any updates on them and I'm wondering if STV will pick them up (if they haven't already) to fill some of the voids for STV2's transmission area.
