No link on that page to the DUK consultation documents, BBC journos can't even seen to cut and paste links
into their articles ?

I had no idea anything like this existed. There's not much info here. Does anyone know how far these channels were broadcast. It sounds like an early version of The Learning Zone.

Around the same time, Glasgow University was using a similar system - again using British Relay cables, to link up various buildings on campus with a TV studio. I'm told it was fitted out to a similar standard to the BBC, up the road at Queen Margaret Drive. It's had a few upgrades since, and is still in use.
It was also used by what might be the world's oldest student TV station, who eventually bought the campus network for £1 - and when I was there, we were still managing to use bits of the old coaxial network in 2005.

Wasn't STV one of the original backers in setting up ITV schools?

Having done a small amount of digging - Glasgow Uni's studio wasn't completed until 1968, but this article mentions an 8-channel British Relay campus cable network, complete with links to GCED's studios in Bath Street. I've also found a picture of their dinky little OB van from 1966, plus various mentions in later editions of the student paper (later edited by one Andrew Neil - yes, that one) of the nascent student television station.
