STV HD was blacked out for the first 6/7 minutes of Emmerdale, immediately after the preceding ident.
According to STV's Twitter feed, STV HD had problems during Emmerdale and have said the episode will be on the player. Looks like there are issues behind the scenes as they've had a few glitches recently, coupled with the current playout issues with the feed.

Wonder why they have the top programme in a smaller size font than the rest? If there is a VO talking about each programme and said programme is highlighted, then why are two programmes being highlighted at once?

Some time ago, people were talking about unusual continuity, that seemed to be unique to STV in the 1980s. Basically, it was that the CA would do an announcement of the next programme over a slide of the STV building at Cowcaddens.
This is the announcement in question, with Bruce Curdy.

I think I may have found a reason for the use of the slide with the studios. Immediatley before the announcement, and the slide, there is a static slide advert for a sale at Arnotts (remember them?), also voiced by Bruce Curdy. I have listened to this several times, and I am convinced that the Arnotts announcement was done live. My reason for thinking this is that when Bruce starts his announcement for the Arthur C Clarke programme, over the slide, it seems he starts is almost the same tone as the end of the Arnotts advert.
I'm therefore thinking that the reason for putting up a slide of the STV studios building to introduce the next programme is that the static advert for Arnotts was a slide, and as it was the last advert in the break, it was easier to just go to another slide of something else. IVC couldn't be done here as Bruce would've been in a booth, and not in the IVC studio. So, hence the use of the studio slide.
That's certainly my thoughts. Anyone lese got other ideas?
