Yes heard her tonight......she sounds a bit West of Scotland rough too. It would seem that altogether stv can only employ altogether Glaswegians!!!

I hear there is a new woman announcer. I have heard her late at night, and she has just done the intro in the Scottish News.

No they are NOT only based in Glasgow....they are also based in Aberdeen!!
I agree about employing the best person etc but I dont think the comments about only folk from Glasgow area could work there!!
Grampian had a fantastic team of announcers but when the stv takeover happened and all presentation moved south they were all lost (with the exception of Kate Fraser who has vanished of late). I would imagine that most of the anouncements are recorded now so why not in Aberdeen.....now thats altogether Scotland!!

I would assume they would employ the best person who went for the job regardless of where they came from? Also seeing as STV is based in Glasgow, I would assume most people that work for STV are also from Glasgow.

They may have a studio in Aberdeen but the broadcasts come from Glasgow and have done for several years now.
The announcements are recorded during the day until about 5pm, where it's live until midnight. I assume this is so the announcers get paid as full time staff.

What's going on with the announcers?
This morning's/afternoon's recorded announcements came from the new woman who was on duty last night, then before the Evening News, the main woman announ (mumbler), then the main male announ before Emmerdale and Corrie, and now a different guy, one I have heard before, but I don't think he is an actual stv announ.

It's the same here in Border TV land and all the English ITV regions the announcers are based in London.Although there is a Scottish guy on the team more than we in South Scotland got from the NTC at Leeds.
That's just the way it is if playout comes from London then it stands to reason most people are going to be based in London.
