Jazz at the Gateway really makes you think, ITV would NEVER broadcast such programmes nowadays. There has been some real gems being broadcast today, You have to wonder if STV would broadcast other gems from the vaults it would be cheap to broadcast and fill up the hours of weekend schedules.
Could the Mods move this post to a more appropriate place if need be.
On Monday, at 11am, STV2 is showing a live broadcast of the opening of the new Queensferry Crossing. What I was wondering was, BBC Scotland has sometimes, in the past, moved a programme being shown on BBC1 at say 20:00, and broadcast it on BBC2 at that time (an edition of tomorrows world springs to mind), so BBC1 Scotland can opt out to show something else. Could STV move "This Morning" and possibly Loose women from STV to STV2 at their normal times, so that they can show something else, like this, on the main STV channel, in theory?
The Nations frequently do that kind of thing. They will put the network election night programme on BBC 2 and do their own on BBC 1.
They often juggle sport in a similar way. I seem to recall a discussion here about how one of the nations would handle a scenario where network had snooker staying in BBC 1 then switching to BBC 2 but the nation was putting the whole lot on 2. ISTR they treated it as two separate programmes with a junction in the middle.
STV would be quite entitled to do what you suggest, although they may have issues with advertisers and sponsors who had paid for slots around the particular programme they were preempting.

Tough, because STV has its own advertisers and sponsors department. STV has also dropped network content due to special things, like Loose woman was dropped because of special pres conference over Lockerbie bomber being freed
But if STV has sold advertising around a programme which gets shifted to a different channel, "tough" becomes "breach of contract". Obviously there are clauses in those contacts to cover these eventualities but I'm just trying to point out that there are bigger issues around shifting programmes in this way.

While we wait for other replys to that, some more details about STV 60th years
Thingummyjig actually come back two years later as Shindig, but that only lasted for two years. Also there is only ONE master broadcast copy of Thingummyjig All others were wiped, and any others that appear are from Collectors or vhs's.
If you get a chance to watch The Home Show I strongly recommend it, there really do go into everyday homes.
If they swapped stv programming for stv 2 programming they would only cover the Big population centres and hardly anybody in the north - old Grampian region and would the north care about the bridge as much as the locations where stv2 is received
