Given the fact STV Glasgow have a full time news reader and camera crew available on a daily basis (unlike Grampian), to produce a video blog for the benefit of central belt viewers on their website, then they obviously do have the resources. The fact is the suits in Glasgow CHOSE not to have split continuity, and thereby demonstrated their total disregard for the audience outwith the Scottish Television area.

Yeah because making a blog for a website is the same as providing a TV station's continuity isn't it? Rolling Eyes

I;m sure I can remember that Dundee did get STV in 1959:

They did, on the old 405-line system. Some parts of the city still do get an STV signal, from the Craigkelly transmitter.

Believe me, the last thing I want to do is to defend STV's " national " presence in anyway, but before Channel 4 came along, in the East end of Dundee leading into what is now Angus ( Monifieth ) you could get Grampian and STV. I have been told by one friend that he remembers getting Grampian, STV and Border ( ! )

STV's answer to me questionning STV North viewers having to listen to the 50 year boasts...

Thank you for your email.

The stv brand incorporates two separate licences; one for stv central and one for stv north. stv north still have another four years until the 50th anniversary of the license and we will mark this special occasion at the appropriate time.

We are celebrating a landmark in the fact that it is 50 years since Scottish commercial broadcasting commenced and we think this is a landmark worth noting across both licences.

Once again thanks for taking the time to get in touch; viewer feedback is always welcome.

Regards,
