Glen Michael Was Shown because I;am the one who phoned them up 4 weeks ago to ask.

You are 100% right here!!
STV have no interest in the Grampian region or its legacy!! When the name went it never even got a mention up here - just how great it would be when it becomes STV.
I contacted the STV office when they were giving away £7000 on the "watch to win" crap! The question was about Glen Michael cartoon thing and what animal featured on his show? Now I have lived in Grampian land for 40 years and have NEVER seen this show.........STV tell me it was on but I challenge anyone staying up here to tell me they saw it??
I also told them that I would look forward to STV pulling out the stops in 4 years time when Grampian hits 50 but somehow would imagine that it will never be mentioned!!
IT STINKS!!!!!
I agree with both of you. No way should these birthday idents be transmitted in Grampian land. The suits in Aberdeen and Glasgow should hang their heads in shame – but of course they won’t. They are treating Grampian viewers like SCUM. Apart from being offensive, and arrogant, the actions of Glasgow personnel have resulted in viewers being DELIBERATELY MISLED. The idents should be immediately withdrawn from Grampian screens.

Yes, let's not make excuses. The important fact is that STV has not been broadcasting to Scotland for 50 years - it's been broadcasting to CENTRAL Scotland although, of course, the boundary of the area changed with the move from VHF to UHF.
Yes, in the late 50s and early 60s people in Dundee and North Fife with big aerials (and sets capable of receiving Channel 10 - some tvs then could only get the BBC) watched STV. But after Grampian went on the air from Angus that changed within months. And for most people north of Perth, ITV always meant Grampian.
STV should confine their celebrations to the Central Belt. They're acting as if Grampian never existed. And if they try arguing that viewers in the north have always enjoyed STV programmes, then by the same logic Scotland (and the rest of the network) should have joined in the party when LWT celebrated its 30th anniversary in 98!

Maybe because SMG is based in Glasgow?

STV Glasgow ruined my enjoyment of the excellent Martin Clunes drama tonight on Grampian. Seven times they started to run unscheduled ads during one segment of the programme, followed later by over three minutes of mind numbing music, and the caption below. Did Scottish viewers also have this error?

Yes I will be but I know the response I will get!!
I can NOT understand how the bosses at STV would think to run a 50th in the Grampian area.........it does anger me greatly when Grampain's 40th was never mentioned in 2001 by smg with exception of a small feature on North Tonight.........is there NO one to speak up for the North in this company??????

Your'll have to get used to it. The most Central got when it was 25 was a small short bit in the news.

Although later on the news show did its own 25 years thing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YHrhQJuBWLM Not sure how much they did tho.
Dunno how ITV plc did the whole "ITV 50 thing" I think they based that on the year rediffusion went on the air so it did apply to the whole network. I don't expect ITV plc to take note of any future franchise birthdays tho.
