well we had ITV idents from Bruce Dunlop that were a rip of Windows XP squares. Now we have the iPlayer > cross bred with a box of asda highland shortbread.
how many cliche can one ident hold?
And how appealing to the audience will a bunch of sweaty club sluts be? Really - this is 2009. urgh.

The triangle does slightly remind me of the thistle logo … or the Anglia stylised 'A'.

Is the blue triangle meant to respresent part of the St Andrew Cross?
If not then its ugly. What was ever wrong in just updating the 1980's/1990's thistle?

The logo to me does look pretty poor but I like the flip book effect (always thought the Muller Corner advert style would work well as an ident). Not sure about the clubbing one (about a good as BBC One's 'Festival'!) but the other one shows off some nice scenery.

It may not be ideal, but I'm quite pleased that they didn't just stick with a cliche/stereotype of Scotland as a beautiful rural country where not much happens.

Its good to see that STV are keeping things independent. But I have read that each programme ie North Tonight and Scotland Today are remaining as two programmes and keeping the opt outs for each programme. Also new sets and graphics. For the Opt Outs, they will be using two cameras now instead of just the one.

I suspect a geometric design based on a part of the national flag is seen as more modern and less stereotypical than the national flower...
