Didn't they have a studio in the Trocadero at one time too?

Yep. The channel launched as part of Sky's Multi-Channel package on September 1st 1993 but didn't have any live presenters until 1994. They started out at Sky's studios briefly then moved to the Trocadero for a couple of years, moving to Rathbone Place in 1996.

Shame we didn't see much of Ray Cokes after Most Wanted, he was a good presenter. I know he popped on up Channel 4's Wanted but after that he seemed to migrate to Europe and do work there. I dare say Quiz TV or a shopping channel may have been right up his street, filling hours of waffling on about nothing.

He does a week of live chat shows each September as part of the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg - very like his old MTV stuff.

Another thing about Nickelodeon is their programmes before 1993 are copyrighted to MTV Networks, so I'm presuming there was a closer relationship with MTV in the early days.

Mods, could you split this topic? I have asked in an RTP, and the conversation has veered rather off course.

Thanks.

The programme copyrights changed in the 90s but Nick remained part of MTV Networks until 2011, when MTV Networks became Viacom (International) Media Networks.

The information about Nick UK included in press releases/job ads hasn't been updated for a long time and still refers to it as a joint venture between MTV Networks and Sky.

Does anyone have the screen captures from the Classic Nickelodeon Presentation Thread that was started by Andrew? Sadly the links are all dead now.

It was announced this week that new film and tv studios are to open near Oxford next year (in an existing building on the site of an old printing press), which could provide much needed studio space for the tv industry:

I Don’t think there was mention of any tv production technical facilities, so these would be sound stage type spaces - rather than equipped tv studios. There was a piece on South Today Oxford a few nights ago about it. It’s the former Daily Mail printing press in Didcot. Noise from the adjacent railway line might be an interesting problem!

The famous "twins" Moonya and Yolanda and Mike McClean total legend who went on to do Mad for It for CiTV. I remember that studio with the massive Fax machine and then the clip with the Red Hot Lobster Tour, brought back a lot of memories of growing up Smile
