On a related studio note then...wondered if anyone could tell me the size of the BBC Westminster studio where the Daily Politics comes from? It always looks quite small, with some masking...(I think thats the term) to hide cameras...I guess the 2 back projectors take up a fair bit of space?

well the way the back projections work is the image is projected backwards onto some mirrors and the mirrors reflect it into the screens, so they won't take up that much space.

I'm also quite intrigued as to how big (or indeed small) the BBC Studio is at Millbank (?) that's used for DP, This Week, The Record etc.

I thought that large back-projection screens have traditionally been achieved via mirrors to save space. That was certainly the case at ITV Westcountry where they only had the 'medium' size set in place (which just about squeezed into the studio).

Last week I noticed a new bit of 'masking' (bottom right) , although the one at the top (between the two back-projection screens) has been removed to allow the co-presenter to walk between the seating area and second screen on DP.

I read somewhere, while googling "Jungle Run" that the set of the CITV show was massive (I always thought it was in separate studios) and was full of fake plants and trees etc.

It was built in an old RAF hangar Shocked

When I saw that, that's what made me wonder how small the studio really is! That masking is far better than the old one with the fake screen! Talking of screens, the 2 projector screens are looking tatty beyond belief in that studio now! Tbh I wish they would get a new set, because im pretty sure that set has been around since it launched in 2003, albeit with a few different sofas, and ways of positioning the various parts of the set....

The Crystal Maze was originally filmed here before moving to an aircraft hangar.
