On a lot of shopping channels including bid tv, they use autocue to pipe an output feed to the camera. So essentialy the presenter can see themselves talking to the camera. Take some getting used to I expect.

That's how they manage to point at and interact with the graphics on the screen.

The cameras on Graham Nortons Channel 4 programmes had both an autocue and a studio output. The latter was provided by a small flat screen (PC type) monitor on top of the camera

And on Sky News they seem to have the same LCD screens bolted on to the top of all of their Studio Cameras.

I suppose with Sky News and lots of fast moving shows its more effective than floor monitors with the numerous presenting positions..

Yes why not try and run things on a shoestrong!

I must say that in the last couple of years there has certainly been a loss of technical quality across broadcasting as a whole, just look at the likes of some of the cameras they use for interviewing people on the street now....Domestic camcorders!, Now although technology has come on a long way the quality of pictures from cheap single CCD cameras just looks rubbish. Even with a cheap three chip camera the pictures are questionable. Add to that the autofocus hunting as well, and much of the programming now on location, particulary those where they have gone out to interview people on the street, and it looks little better than a home video clip.

Anyway back to the chase....what I can say of Meridians set-up is they have gone for cheap studio cameras too, Sony DXC-50WSP, which I think are classified as professional rather than broadcast quality.

Yep - though in reality, in studio lighting conditions, the differences between DXCs and BVPs in picture terms, on talking head type shows, is nowhere near as huge as it once was.

If you needed the extra comms, low light performance, and were shooting a highly lit entertainment show, then the improvements of BVPs over DXCs would be more apparent.

If you want to see "pro" cameras on-air - look at CBBC on One. That is shot with JVC KY29s. They're not even triax...
