Not a mention of Jimmy Tarbuck dropping out. Now surely the purpose of It Takes Two is to pick up on things like that? Could it be that tonight's show wasn't live at all, but recorded last night? At one point Len Goodman referred to the couples having a couple of days before the show, and Claudia seemed unusually calm about keeping the programme running to time. Have they come a cropper by pre-recording the one show in the run that really needed to be live?
Glad I'm not the only one irritated by this show. The extra 2 weeks has really hurt this show the most. The features are getting streched to wafer thin proportions.
I've long suspected that most -if not all - of the show is pre-recorded in advance (does The Hospital have live TX capabilities?) with features made days ago then slung into the running order at random to pad out as required.
I also fail to understand why the Friday edition can't come live from TC1 to get all the action from the afternoon rehearsals.
Incidentally, regarding last week's main BBC1 show, did anyone notice that Bruce Forsyth was fighting fit for the main show...
...yet 2 hours and 20 mintues later for the results how, he had almost lost his voice and obviously had a sore throat.
Now how did that develop in that space of time? Is it because the BBC1 show is recorded? Yet Bruce regularly mentions it is live and that they are running out of time and must rush things?
Does anyone know?
The main show is all live apart from the bit where they show the weeks training but the result show is not all live. From what I can tell the the song that is played is pre recorded and maybe the pro dances dancing a pre view to next weeks dances is also pre recorded. But they make it look as if it is all live but for the result show it is not possible for this.
The music sequences are pre-recorded in a LOT of shows these days. In the case of Strictly Come Dancing it is obvious why - as in some cases there is a major band set-up on the dance floor, complete with fold-back monitoring, instruments etc. It isn't practical to set and strike this in the time available...
On some occasions you can very clearly see where they leave and return to live presentation (on one occasion Bruce's arms were in completely different places in the live close-up and recorded wide)
The HD broadcast this weekend was nice - though it looked like the graphics were upconverted from SD (I'm guessing a regular SD Ethos or similar is still being used?) and the replays looked a bit soft (not sure if they were SD upconverts or just EVS running at quite high compression)
