Richard Arnold was on Richard Bacon's 5Live show the other day. He mentioned this will the last series at TV Center and they'll be paying tribute to it throughout the series.

I've just watched the opening routine, was that done live? If it was, it was very impressive.

I wouldn't say the bits outside TVC were. However, I would say that somewhere along the line (presumably when they're going into the studio), it switches to live, quite seamlessly.

I'm pretty certain the whole show was pre-recorded. The pre-titles bit was filmed on Tuesday and I think the rest of the show was done later that night.

Any chance the two threads can be merged?

The V/O said, "Live from London", which was as they (apparently) danced into the studio.

Fantastic opening routine. Loved the animation between pre-recorded and live - drapes dropping in, spin of the mirrorball, and drapes swagging out - all done as a keyed overlay.

Not sure I'd expect Richard Arnold to be across BBC Studios and BBC Vision Entertainment deals...

My understanding is that BBC Studios are tempoarily moving to Elstree Film Studios (close to the existing BBC Studios operation at Elstree) for the period that TV Centre will be closing for. BBC Studios will then be moving back to run an operation expected to include TC1 once this work has finished.

This suggests that if Strictly stay with BBC Studios as their resource provider then they will be moving out for a year or two, but at some point in the future moving back - though whether the building is still called "BBC TV Centre" is another matter I guess.

I saw the pairing up show on Saturday evening and was surprised to see Johnny Ball in the line-up. I'd have thought he'd be a bit old for a show like that. Bear in mind the hours of training they must have to put in each week, it must all be quite hard going on one's body. Any likelihood he may have to withdraw voluntarily early on?

Is David Arch still the Musical director, have there got someone new in?

His partner will choreograph to his abilities, which will increase as he gains stamina. That's true for all of them, irrespective of age.

Its no secret that he's the oldest competitor they've had - but one person at 74 can be much fitter than another.

"Dave Arch and his wonderful, wonderful orchestra", yes.
